Over the past few days, field observations have been carried out in Langiewicza Park, Wrocław, to examine how people use the park and how lighting influences their activities, sense of safety, and perception of biodiversity.

The study uses the MOHAWk framework (Method for Observing pHysical Activity and Wellbeing) – an observational method for recording physical activity, social interactions, and environmental engagement in public spaces.
Observations are conducted during evening hours, when the park’s lamps are switched on, to assess whether lighting affects patterns of use. Similar observations were conducted in the winter season, enabling a seasonal comparison of visitor behaviour.

The observations are being conducted as part of the URBIO BAUHAUS project. The results will contribute to a better understanding of how urban green spaces can meet community needs while supporting environmental objectives.
