The CoFarm4Cities Final Conference will take place on 19 March 2026 in Budapest, bringing together project partners, public authorities, researchers and practitioners interested in sustainable land use and urban farming solutions.
The conference will present the main outcomes of the CoFarm4Cities project, which has explored new approaches to managing urban and peri urban land through the Urban Farming based Sustainable Land Use (UFSLU) model. Developed with stakeholders in partner cities including Budapest, Kraków, Ljubljana, Turin and Zagreb, the model demonstrates how urban farming can contribute to protecting green areas, strengthening local food systems and improving urban resilience.
The programme will feature presentations from urban farms and initiatives across Europe, including examples from Hungary, Poland, Portugal and Austria. Experts will discuss the role of public institutions in transforming food systems, while project partners will present their experiences from local pilot sites.
A key part of the conference will be a roundtable discussion with managers of the CoFarm4Cities pilot farms, reflecting on lessons learned from implementing urban farming projects in different local contexts. The event will also present the UFSLU model and discuss how it can be adapted and replicated by other cities interested in developing sustainable urban agriculture initiatives.
The conference forms part of the final project meeting in Budapest, which also includes partner discussions and site visits to local urban farming initiatives in the Óbuda district.
