Climate-Con 2025 – 3rd Silesian Climate Convention

Date: 25.11.2025
By: CICADA4CE

Climate. Adaptation. Cooperation.

The main theme of this year’s edition was the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the Silesian Voivodeship – the first document of its kind in Poland, setting out directions for actions to protect the environment, natural resources and the health of residents. The event’s programme was built around the foundations of this plan.

Over the course of two days, participants took part in 16 thematic sessions and 6 discussion blocks, covering topics such as:

  • water as a critical resource,
  • building climate awareness,
  • sustainable action,
  • climate security,
  • natural capital,
  • cooperation and partnerships for the climate.

Exhibition Zone – presentation of the CICADA4CE project

An important part of Climate-Con 2025 was the exhibitors’ zone. At the stand of the Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas (IETU), the CICADA4CE project was presented, focusing on solutions supporting urban adaptation to climate change. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest tools, methods and research results, as well as speak with experts involved in the project. The stand attracted significant interest from both representatives of public administration and individuals professionally or personally interested in climate issues.

Who is Climate-Con for?

The convention, organised by the Silesian Voivodeship, was addressed to a wide audience: representatives of public administration and institutions, NGOs, entrepreneurs, scientists, students, pupils and residents of the region. The event’s openness and broad scope ensured that everyone could find valuable perspectives and practical insights.

Experts and inspiration

Among the speakers were representatives of academic institutions, research institutes, public administration, business and civil society organisations. Their presentations addressed both global climate challenges and local solutions that can tangibly improve the quality of life in the region.

A space for action and creativity

Climate-Con 2025 offered not only discussions but also hands-on experiences with climate-related tools and methods. Workshops and activities included:

  • Climate Mosaic – an interactive workshop based on IPCC knowledge, explaining the mechanisms of climate change.
  • Designing for Climate – sessions dedicated to blue–green infrastructure in post-industrial and post-mining areas.
  • RewitaCITY – a discussion on the future and necessary transformation of Silesian cities.
  • Trash Art – an artistic zone promoting recycling through creative use of materials.

Towards a greener future for the region

Climate-Con 2025 once again demonstrated that Silesia is a place where ambitious climate goals can meet real action. Dialogue, cooperation and the exchange of experience have laid the foundation for further steps towards a sustainable and climate-resilient region.

The event concluded with the conviction that adaptation and cooperation are key to a safe, green future – and that Silesia has the potential to be one of its leaders.
