Chair of Biosystems Engineering at the Day of Agrorobotics and Advanced Technologies in Agriculture

Date: 03.06.2026

Representatives of the Chair of Biosystems Engineering from the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, University of Maribor, participated on 27 May in the Day of Agrorobotics and Advanced Technologies in Agriculture at the Infrastructure Centre Ptuj.

The event brought together nearly 600 visitors including researchers, companies, advisors, students, and farmers, offering a unique opportunity to see live demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies already shaping the future of agriculture, from agrorobots and autonomous platforms to UAV spraying, precision agriculture, and smart water management.

The Chair presented FarmBeast, a student-developed autonomous robot currently being upgraded within the Living Lab for Agrorobotics. The Living Lab was established within the framework of Agri Digital Growth, through which the team develops, tests, and researches new solutions in the field of agrorobotics.

Also on display were two advanced robotic solutions recently acquired under the IRP3 Robot4Plants project: the Clearpath Jackal, showcasing a plant protection system based on UV-C light suppression of microorganisms, and the autonomous spraying robot Greenhive.

Student team members actively involved in FarmBeast’s development also took part in the event, gaining hands-on experience in autonomous systems, precision agriculture, and advanced technologies for sustainable farming.

The day reinforced a key message that lies at the heart of Agri Digital Growth: digitalisation and robotisation alone are not sufficient. People, knowledge, experience, and collaboration are essential to building practical solutions for the future of agriculture.
