This year marks the 50th anniversary of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF): half a century of building a more united Europe.
Since 1975, the ERDF has supported millions of Europeans, helping reduce regional disparities, boost economic growth, and strengthen cohesion.
Its story began with the Treaty of Rome in 1957, which recognised that regional imbalances threatened unity. The ERDF emerged to turn that vision into concrete solution, from stabilising economies in the 1980s to supporting digital and green transitions today.
