Assessing Disaster Management Systems in the LOCALIENCE countries

Date: 10.10.2023

In the summer of 2023, a comprehensive disaster management survey was conducted across several project countries, facilitated with the involvement of all Project Partners and Associated Partners. This extensive effort aimed to evaluate and understand the existing disaster management systems in place, laying the groundwork for informed decision-making and strategic planning in times of crisis.

Spanning over 20 pages, the survey delved into various facets of disaster management, encompassing preparedness, response mechanisms, resource allocation (finances), community engagement (local citizens, volunteers), and coordination (on national and international level) among stakeholders. The collaborative endeavour between project countries and Associated Partners exemplified a concerted commitment to the project goals.

One of the fundamental objectives of the survey was to assess the strengths and weaknesses of current disaster management frameworks. By scrutinizing past responses to crises and identifying areas for improvement, the survey provided invaluable insights into the existing gaps which will be addressed by a White Paper at the end of the project.

The findings of the survey are pivotal for shaping future initiatives and delivering on project objectives.

Moving forward, the survey will serve as a cornerstone for the project’s deliverables, guiding the development of actionable recommendations and tailored interventions.

In essence, the disaster management survey stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and proactive planning in building resilient societies. By harnessing the collective expertise of project countries, we pave the way for a safer, more secure future in the face of adversity.
