On 24 August, the teams of AI-GRAPE and AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH met online to discuss their work in precision viticulture and explore opportunities for collaboration. The projects are funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia and Interreg Central Europe programmes, respectively.
AI-GRAPE is developing tools that combine field observations with data from satellites, drones and automatic insect traps. The project uses artificial intelligence to improve pest forecasts and support winegrowers’ decisions. Its planned results include a web-based Decision Support System (DSS).
AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH shared the experience gained through its Living Labs and the work of CREA Viticulture and Enology in field experimentation and the agronomic validation of digital technologies. The teams compared their approaches to collecting and validating data and discussed the use of DSS tools in viticulture. Monitoring Scaphoideus titanus and Flavescence dorée emerged as a possible area for further exchange.
The meeting also highlighted a shared interest in connecting producers, companies, researchers and other stakeholders. Both projects are developing networks to support knowledge exchange and encourage cooperation beyond their activities.
By bringing together projects from different Interreg programmes, the European Union helps agricultural innovation grow beyond individual regions and reach more of the people who can put it to use.
