The project partners gathered in Znojmo on 20-22 May for a comprehensive three-day meeting aimed at advancing key deliverables, strengthening collaboration, and sharing progress across work areas. The meeting kicked off with an informal gathering at the Tourist Information Centre in Znojmo. Held at Centrum Louka, the first full day ran from 9:30 to 19:00, featuring a series of presentations, discussions, and committee meetings. The day began with a welcome from the Lead Partner and updates from CENIA and CzechGlobe. Key deliverables were presented and discussed, including access and resource mapping, fuel mapping and validation, fire behaviour modelling, fire weather forecasts, fuel moisture mapping and validation, as well as assessments of cross-border fire danger differences and harmonisation strategies. The afternoon concluded with a guided tour of the historic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Wenceslaus, followed by a group dinner at the Znojmo Brewery, allowing partners to connect in a more informal setting. The final day focused on communication strategies and ongoing work, including mapping risk areas, pilot site testing and training events, and the presentation of action plans. After the formal sessions, partners embarked on a study visit, touring the Fire Brigades in Znojmo and exploring the NP Podyjí national park, culminating in a dinner at the Lahofer winery in Dobšice. Throughout the meeting, participants engaged in fruitful discussions and demonstrated strong commitment to advancing the project’s goals. The event showcased the value of cross-border cooperation in addressing wildfire risks and civil protection challenges.
