The city of Worms continues to play a leading role in addressing the growing challenges of extreme heat. On 4 June 2025, the Worms Heat Protection Network will host a full-day expert symposium as part of Germany’s national Heat Action Day.
The program is part of the EU Interreg project “Ready4Heat”, and will include the participation of international partners from Austria and Slovenia, further highlighting Worms’ commitment to cross-border collaboration on climate resilience.
Taking place across several locations in the city, including the Town Hall and the Dreifaltigkeitshaus, the symposium will offer a wide-ranging set of discussions and professional inputs—from municipal-level planning to best practices in daycare facilities. In the evening, the city will mark the occasion with a formal celebration of its growing heat protection network.
Program Highlights:
-
A webinar on best practices from Worms and Weitz
-
A meeting of the municipal steering group on heat action planning
-
A training session focused on managing heat in early childhood education
-
An evening lecture and official recognition of new network members
The City of Worms was also recently featured as a case study by the Covenant of Mayors, showcasing its innovative, participatory approach to heat action planning. The article emphasizes Worms’ strong network governance, citizen inclusion, and practical support for institutions facing the impacts of extreme heat. A news article on that topic will follow shorty.
