On October 22, 2024, the Regional Chamber of Crafts and Small Business in Ajdovščina will host an important workshop focused on tackling the pressing cross-border challenges in fire prevention and limitation in the Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) and Goriška regions. Organized by the Slovenian Forestry Institute in collaboration with the Municipality of Ajdovščina, the event aims to foster dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders from both sides of the border.
The workshop will explore a comprehensive range of topics, including long-term fire risk prevention, fire season preparation, coordinated cross-border intervention, and post-fire land and forest management. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts on issues such as land use restrictions, fire-fighting infrastructure, monitoring and observation strategies, and joint operational protocols.
By bringing together local authorities, fire-fighting units, forestry experts, and community representatives, the event seeks to identify practical potentials for improvement in cross-border wildfire management. The discussions will ultimately contribute to enhancing regional resilience against the growing threat of wildfires in this vulnerable natural and social landscape.
