📅 Date: September 16–18, 2025
📍 Location: Feldkirch, Schaan, Großes Walsertal (Austria & Liechtenstein)
Project partners will come together for a strategic workshop and study visit in the Austrian-Liechtenstein border region, organised by CIPRA International. This event will serve as a key step in the definition and finalisation of joint solutions and methodology used across the project’s pilot actions, aligning with the broader objective of strengthening governance and cooperation in Central European mountain areas.
The meeting will begin on September 16 with arrivals in Feldkirch, followed by two intensive working days filled with discussion, experience-sharing, and field visits.
On September 17, the group will travel by train to Schaan (Liechtenstein) for a full-day agenda hosted by CIPRA Lab, including:
- Updates from partners and finalisation of outputs under Work Package 2,
- Presentation of joint solutions developed from pilot actions,
- A guided outdoor session at Dux, followed by an in-depth discussion on best practices in cross-border governance.
Two outstanding examples will be presented:
- International Bodensee Tourism GmbH – showcasing transnational cooperation in tourism across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein,
- Agglomeration Rheintal Programme – illustrating how cross-border collaboration has improved spatial planning and life quality across national boundaries.
On September 18, the partners will visit the UNESCO Biosphere Park Großes Walsertal. The visit will highlight:
- The Walserstolz cheese brand and its success in building a strong local identity,
- Cooperative models for branding and promoting local products,
- A tour through the Biosphere Park House.
🚉 Throughout the visit, participants will reflect on how these transnational models of cooperation, branding, and community engagement can inform sustainable development strategies in other mountain regions, such as the Carpathians and Sudetes.
