In this webinar, we will explore how circular economy principles are being applied in public transport and urban mobility systems across Europe. Cities and regions including Maribor (Slovenia), Szeged (Hungary), and Fingal County (Ireland) will share practical experiences and pilot projects that demonstrate how circular approaches can reduce resource use, extend asset lifetimes, lower costs, and enhance social value.
The session will highlight concrete examples such as second-life energy storage for e-buses, extending the lifespan of trams and trolleybuses through repair and redesign, and refurbishing bicycles to support youth mobility. In addition, participants will be introduced to the CE4CE Circularity Compass, a practical tool designed to support public transport authorities and operators in embedding circularity across planning, procurement, operations, maintenance, and end-of-life stages.
