VReduMED Mid-term Event | Győr, Hungary

Hybrid
Location: Győr, Hungary
Date: 09.07.2024
By: VReduMED
The event combined an on-site programme in Győr with an online livestream, enabling wider participation and supporting the dissemination of project activities across Central Europe.

The programme presented key findings from the project’s initial analyses, research activities, and stakeholder engagement processes. Participants were introduced to the main challenges and good practices identified among Central European stakeholders, providing a clearer understanding of the needs, barriers, and opportunities related to the use of virtual reality in healthcare education.

The event also provided an update on the work of the VReduMED Care Education Forum and presented opportunities for wider stakeholder involvement. Participants learned about the project’s pilot programme, the planned VR application prototypes to be developed by the partners, the VR Lab Programme, and the Train-The-Trainer Programme. These activities illustrated how the project was moving from analysis and concept development towards practical testing, capacity building, and implementation.

A practical component of the event allowed participants on site to experience selected VR solutions directly. This hands-on approach complemented the presentations and enabled participants to better understand the potential of immersive technologies in healthcare education and training. At the same time, it provided the project consortium with a valuable feedback on pilot concepts.

The Mid-Term Event also created space for exchange among consortium members and external stakeholders, helping to connect research findings with practical needs and future project activities. The discussions supported mutual learning and contributed to refining the direction of the upcoming pilots and training activities. The main outcome of the partner interaction was the conception of VR applications to be developed by the project consortium and subsequently tested by all project partners. Moreover, this event produced several ideas that couldn’t be implemented at the time being, but formed a base for project concepts to be developed after the project end. One of them was the introduction of AI tools into VR applications, which was not possible back in 2024, but a promising development was expected.

By presenting the first project results, engaging stakeholders, and showcasing the next steps of the VReduMED implementation process, the Mid-Term Event contributed to the visibility, transfer, and capitalization of project outcomes. It also strengthened cooperation among partners and stakeholders and supported the project’s broader objective of promoting the practical uptake of VR-based learning solutions in healthcare education across Central Europe.
