The LOCALIENCE Closing Conference will mark the culmination of a three-year transnational cooperation under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, bringing together disaster-management authorities, policy makers, municipalities and knowledge institutions from across Central Europe. The event which will take place in Szombathely, Hungary on 29. – 30. 1. 2026, serves as a milestone in a shared learning process focused on strengthening local resilience to climate-change-induced extreme weather events through improved cooperation, capacity building and community engagement. The conference will present key achievements, including pilot actions, capacity-building activities and jointly developed tools that support closer cooperation between professional disaster-management organisations and local communities. Special emphasis is placed on the role of municipalities and local stakeholders as active contributors to disaster preparedness and response. By fostering transnational dialogue and knowledge exchange, the Closing Conference reaffirmes LOCALIENCE’s commitment to sustaining cooperation beyond the project lifetime and supporting the integration of locally driven, participatory approaches into future disaster-risk and climate-resilience policies.
