Sunny roofs of Croatian cities

A unique manual for employees of city administrations – SUNNY ROOFS OF CROATIAN CITIES, was presented on Wednesday, January 31, at an event held in the House of Europe, organized by the Association of Cities, ZGRADOnačelnik.hr and the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia.

The Mayor of the City of Križevci, Mario Rajn and Mislav Kirac, the energy cooperative ZEZ Sunce manager, presented successful projects in Križevci. At the panel discussion, the role of cities in decarbonization was discussed by Damir Mandić, the Mayor of the City of Karlovac; Darko KasapDarko Kasap, the head of the Board for Spatial Planning and the Construction City of Zadar; Julije Domac, delegate of the Mayor of Zagreb and director of REGEA), Jasmin Mekanović, manager of renewable energy projects, FZOEU, and Srećko Tamburović, senior researcher, Department for renewable energy sources, climate and environmental protection of the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar (EIHP).

In addition to the benefits of solar power plants and the installation procedure, Tamburović also spoke about the Energy and Climate Change program, managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, while the program partner is EIHP. One of the program’s focus areas is renewable energy sources, and special attention in the program’s implementation in Croatia is focused on energy efficiency measures and support for using renewable energy sources, including geothermal energy, marine energy and energy from the Sun. It also followed on from projects implemented by EIHP, which are directly related to the topic, such as the project to establish a national nZEB training center, as part of which the office building of EIHP is being renovated, and the ZEB4ZEN project, which aims to transform historic centers into districts almost zero energy.
