The project partners will head to Mallnitz, a model Alpine municipality and member of the Alpine Pearls Association, to study innovative solutions for sustainable tourism in high-value natural areas.
The visit will begin with a presentation of the Alpine Pearls model, which clusters accommodation providers and local tourism services around the concept of climate-friendly, car-free travel.
The second day will include a hike in the Seebach Valley led by rangers from the Hohe Tauern National Park, where partners will learn about:
- biodiversity conservation practices,
- tourism offerings within the park,
- partnerships between park authorities and local municipalities.
A workshop session will follow at the BIOS National Park Centre in Mallnitz, where partners will discuss:
- the structure and financing of the National Park,
- cross-border challenges faced by mountain protected areas,
- similarities between the Alpine and Carpathian governance contexts.
🌿 This study visit will highlight how cooperation, environmental management, and innovation go hand in hand in the Alps – offering adaptable models for other Central European mountain regions.
