The RE-PUBLIC SPACES – Revitalisation of Public Spaces in Historic Cities project was promoted during the XXXII Conference in the Series of Garden Art and Historical Dendrology, XIV International Edition, entitled
“Landscape Variability – Tradition and Innovation”, which took place on 24–25 October 2025 in Kraków.

During the conference, the concept of the target revitalisation of a courtyard in Łódź developed within the RE-PUBLIC SPACES project was presented as a good practice example demonstrating effective cooperation between stakeholders, residents, local authorities, and other interest groups.

The presentation highlighted how participatory planning approaches can respond to contemporary climate challenges, particularly:

  • stormwater retention and sustainable water management,

  • improvement of urban microclimate,

  • preservation of historic and cultural heritage values.

The example of the Łódź courtyard showed how climate adaptation measures can be successfully integrated into historic urban spaces through dialogue, shared responsibility, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Participation in the conference provided an opportunity to disseminate project results at an international level and to exchange experiences with experts, researchers, and practitioners working at the intersection of landscape architecture, heritage protection, and climate resilience.
