Hydrogen Technology World Expo Europe – Hamburg, 21–22 October 2025

Location: Hamburg, Germany
Date: 21.10.2025 - 22.10.2025
By: H2CE

Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2025 took place at Hamburg Messe from 21 to 23 October 2025.

The event brought together more than 950 exhibitors and over 15,000 participants from the hydrogen and fuel-cell sector. It combined a technology exhibition with a technical conference structured around six thematic tracks.

Main topics

The programme covered:

  • low-carbon hydrogen production;
  • hydrogen storage and distribution;
  • infrastructure and systems integration;
  • fuel-cell design and manufacturing;
  • e-fuels and hydrogen propulsion;
  • stationary and mobile applications;
  • testing, measurement and safety;
  • automation and control technologies; and
  • carbon capture, utilisation and storage.

Practical value

The exhibition demonstrated the range of components and engineering capabilities required across the hydrogen value chain.

For public authorities and regional planners, it illustrated that hydrogen infrastructure depended on coordinated technical systems rather than individual production installations. Storage, transport, control, safety, end-use equipment and maintenance all needed to be considered during project planning.

Industrial automation

Among the participating technology providers, Beckhoff presented PC-based control and automation solutions for hydrogen production and distribution.

Automation systems supported:

  • process monitoring and control;
  • operational safety;
  • flexible system integration;
  • data collection; and
  • efficient management of production and distribution processes.

Relevance for H2CE

The technical focus complemented H2CE’s strategic planning work. It showed why regional decision-support tools needed to connect territorial scenarios with realistic engineering requirements and available technologies.
