The Food Innovation Forum 2024 took place at Vetmeduni Vienna (Austria) from 13 to 14 November 2024. Organised by FFoQSI, the theme was “Towards Sustainable Food Systems,” focusing on the challenges and opportunities in agriculture and food production.

Experts from around the world gathered to discuss the latest scientific research and innovative solutions for building sustainable food networks.

At the event, David Strauss from the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna gave a presentation introducing Alternative Food Networks (AFNs) as part of the EU Interreg project Food4CE.

The forum featured:

  • Insights into ethical food production issues, from tackling food waste to reducing meat consumption.
  • New strategies for food hygiene and safety, highlighting ways to minimise the use of antibiotics and pesticides.
  • Opportunities presented by digitalisation in the food industry.
  • A deeper look into the evolving impact of climate change, such as the spread of diseases and invasive species.
  • Mapping pathogenic and spoilage-related microorganisms, aiding the prevention of faulty food production.

In addition to presentations, the event featured keynote speeches, round-table discussions, and networking opportunities with scientific and corporate leaders.
