The Central Mountains project will approach its final stage with a concluding partner meeting and study visit in Stará Ľubovňa, Slovakia, organised by ZMOS (Association of Towns and Communities of Slovakia).

This event will gather project partners to review the final outputs of the thematic Working Groups (WGs), which have contributed to the development of strategic recommendations for improved governance in mountain regions. These recommendations will build on lessons learned from all previous pilot actions, workshops, and study visits.

The agenda will focus on:

  • Presentation of the Final Report from Working Groups, including key findings and policy recommendations,
  • Joint evaluation of the project’s impact on transnational cooperation models and cross-border governance structures,
  • Discussions on the long-term uptake of developed solutions at regional, national, and European levels.

The study visit component will provide an opportunity to explore Stará Ľubovňa and the surrounding Carpathian region, known for its rich cultural heritage, strong civic engagement, and cross-border cooperation initiatives involving Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine. Participants will meet with local stakeholders, municipalities, and NGOs to exchange experiences related to:

  • Regional branding,

  • Cross-sectoral development in mountainous areas.

🗺️ This final event will set the stage for the territorial uptake of joint solutions, fulfilling the project’s mission to improve governance and promote sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative development in the mountain areas of Central Europe.
