European Hydrogen Week 2025

Location: Brussels, Belgium
Date: 29.09.2025 - 03.10.2025
By: H2CE

The sixth edition of European Hydrogen Week took place in Brussels from 29 September to 3 October 2025.

The event brought together stakeholders from across the hydrogen value chain to discuss the conditions needed to accelerate clean-hydrogen deployment in Europe.

Main themes

The programme addressed:

  • regulatory simplification and investment certainty;
  • creation of demand and lead markets;
  • hydrogen infrastructure and mobility;
  • industrial competitiveness and energy resilience;
  • research and innovation;
  • support for hydrogen start-ups and scale-ups;
  • investment and future skills; and
  • coordination between European, national and regional funding programmes.

EU Hydrogen Innovation Forum

The week included the EU Hydrogen Innovation Forum on 2–3 October 2025, co-organised by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and the European Commission.

Held under the theme “Driving Europe’s Competitiveness and Market Uptake with R&I in Clean Hydrogen Technologies,” the forum highlighted innovative SMEs and start-ups as important contributors to industrial transformation.

Lessons for regional authorities

The discussions showed that innovation alone did not guarantee market uptake. Deployment also required:

  • predictable regulation;
  • credible demand;
  • access to finance;
  • suitable infrastructure;
  • skilled workers; and
  • coordination between public support instruments.

The emphasis on regional funding synergies and Hydrogen Valleys was especially relevant to authorities planning territorial hydrogen ecosystems.
