On 18 and 19 June in Palazzo Bo, the historical building of Università degli Studi di Padova, the Conference “Cambiamento climatico, Vaia, bostrico: quale futuro per le foreste alpine?” brought together researchers, policymakers, foresters, and civil society to address the “Vaia” storm aftermath, bark beetle outbreaks, and structural forest problems in the context of climate change.
Among other speakers, Prof. Emanuele Lingua presented the recent results of his research group on climate change and its impact on forest ecology and management, stressing the effect of climate change on future windthrow and wildfire risks, two aspects analysed in the Interreg CE Project Re-Enforce.
The event brought together around 100 in-person and 150 online participants, fostering a broad, cross-disciplinary conversation on how science and society can shape sustainable forest management for the southern Alpine arc.
