Central – BIC Biodiversity Innovative Communities
Open Group Meeting
On June 12. 2025, the Open Group Meeting of the
Central BIC – Biodiversity Innovative Communities project was held online. It was an important opportunity for dialogue between partners and stakeholders to share initial results and jointly validate the next steps.
During the first part, we presented:
-The project’s objectives with Lead Partner Daniela Minetti (Regione Liguria)
-Progress on the project’s key topics:
-Naturalistic aspects – Stefan Marzelli, IFUPLAN
-Socio-economic aspects – Barbara Cavalletti, University of Genova
-Community aspects – Alessandro Zeppelli, E.C.E.C.E., Austria
The second part engaged participants through an interactive Mentimeter session, collecting opinions and valuable suggestions on the natural and socio-economic management of rural areas through local community engagement, aimed at enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem services.
What is Central BIC? Central BIC is a European project that promotes rural development based on environmental value through the interdisciplinary interaction of three key areas:
· Biodiversity and ecosystem services
· Socio-economic valorization and payment for ecosystem services
· Engagement of local communities
The Open Group aims to broaden the discussion on methods and results beyond the partnership, involving experts, institutions, and stakeholders from across Europe.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their active collaboration. Ongoing dialogue is the key to building effective and locally rooted solutions.
We will continue to share updates and results in the coming months – stay tuned!
