AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH partner Linz Center of Mechatronics (LCM), whose work in the project focuses on sensors and digital technologies for agriculture, welcomed 21 students from Hochschule Burgenland to its facilities in Linz, Austria. The group came from the International Sustainable Business bachelor’s programme and included Erasmus exchange students, accompanied by two lecturers.
LCM’s Chief Scientific Officer, Manfred Nader, welcomed the visitors. Dr Florian Hammer, Senior Engineer in the Sensors & Communication department, then presented AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH and explored the relationship between smart farming and sustainability. The presentation prompted questions and discussion about the use of technology in agriculture.
The programme also covered resource use in industrial production. Lukas Köck, Senior R&D Engineer at LCM, introduced REWIRE, a European research project that combines smart robotics, digital simulation and artificial intelligence to support remanufacturing. Its aim is to help return used products and components to service, reduce waste and limit demand for raw materials.
The visit formed part of AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH’s ongoing exchange with schools and educational institutions. Through open days, workshops and visits to partner facilities, the project introduces students to precision farming and the professional opportunities linked to digital agriculture. At LCM, the students’ background in sustainable business provided a starting point for discussion about agricultural technologies and their environmental relevance.
