About the conference

Climate change and extreme weather events pose unprecedented challenges to cultural and natural heritage across Central Europe and beyond. The INACO Final Conference brings together innovative methodologies, digital tools and hands-on experiences to address how we can better protect our shared heritage.

The event will start at 9:00 with a short welcome address from the project coordinators and a representative of the Interreg Central Europe Joint Secretariat.

Throughout the day, participants will explore three core thematic sessions:

  • Session 1: From Risk to Preparedness – Governance, Cooperation and Co-Creation

Focusing on the institutional, human and governance foundations of heritage protection. We will discuss the emerging role of the Risk Manager for Cultural and Natural Heritage, interdisciplinary capacity-building, bridging heritage conservation with civil protection routines and co-creating disaster risk plans with local stakeholders.

  • Session 2: From Data to Decisions – Digital Tools and Climate Information for Heritage Risk Management

Showcasing practical digital solutions, vulnerability assessment frameworks and spatial risk mapping developed within INACO and other European initiatives. Topics will cover the usability of water-related climate data, advanced 3D documentation and monitoring technologies, and emerging spatial decision-support tools.

  • Session 3: Heritage under Pressure – Applying Risk Management across Sites and Landscapes

Bridging theory and on-the-ground practice. We will present key lessons learned and transferability insights from INACO pilot sites, while also examining external case studies – ranging from urban flood response and citizen monitoring to riverine cultural landscapes and archival resilience.
