HyEfRe Hydrogen Potential Model Now Available

The Hydrogen Potential Model (HPM) developed within the HyEfRe project is now available to support regional and local stakeholders in exploring renewable hydrogen opportunities. The HPM is a web-based decision-support tool that helps municipalities, regional authorities, energy agencies, project developers and other stakeholders assess the potential for renewable hydrogen production based on local renewable energy resources and electricity demand profiles. Using a scenario-based approach, users can evaluate renewable energy surpluses, compare alternative development pathways and identify promising opportunities for hydrogen deployment. The tool supports all European NUTS2 regions and includes functionalities such as synthetic renewable generation profiles, ENTSO-E-based demand profiles, renewable surplus assessment, avoided CO emission calculations, and integration with the HyEfRe Decision Support Tool (DST) for advanced techno-economic analysis. Designed as an easy-to-use platform for both experts and non-experts, the Hydrogen Potential Model provides an accessible starting point for hydrogen planning and contributes to the development of regional hydrogen ecosystems across Central Europe. The tool is fully integrated with the HyEfRe Decision Support Tool (DST).
