The “Green Chamber” was successfully completed in the courtyard of Staro Velenje within the RE-PUBLIC SPACES project. The intervention transformed the formerly paved space into a greener, more comfortable and climate-resilient urban courtyard.
The Green Chamber included mobile greenery in planters, container-grown trees and climbing plants, complemented by new benches, tables, chairs and waste bins. Shading elements and rainwater retention solutions were also introduced to improve thermal comfort and support sustainable water management.
All interventions were designed as reversible solutions, respecting the historical character of the courtyard without interfering with the existing surfaces or building façades.
The completed Green Chamber demonstrated how flexible green infrastructure and climate-sensitive solutions can improve the quality and usability of historic public spaces.
