On June 18, 2026, a specialized field day dedicated to the cultivation and processing of fiber flax took place in Zwenkau/Mausitz. Hosted by key SYMCRAFT stakeholders Sachsen-Leinen e.V. and fuse GmbH, the event was actively supported by the SYMCRAFT project as part of its mission to advance circular bio-economy practices.
Beyond inspecting regional linen cultivation trials, participants zeroed in on a critical circular economy challenge: ensuring every single part of the plant is utilized without waste. A major highlight of the discussions focused on processing straw and handling agricultural by-products. Specifically, the team identified and evaluated an innovative use for the fiber dust generated during processing, exploring its potential to serve as a sustainable filler aggregate for industrial injection molding applications.
