CTU Prague Presents New MedWaveImage Research on Patient Movement Artifacts at ICMWIA 2026

Date: 04.02.2026

The MedWaveImage project network continues to share its cutting-edge scientific insights within the international biomedical community. Researchers Barbora Smahelova, Jakub Kollar, and Jan Vrba from the Department of Biomedical Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) successfully participated in the 2026 International Conference on Medical Microwave Imaging Applications (ICMWIA).

During the conference, the CTU team presented their latest numerical study titled “Effect of Patient Movements on Non-invasive Microwave Temperature Monitoring during Head and Neck Hyperthermia: Numerical Study”. This research directly addresses one of the most critical challenges for the clinical translation of differential microwave imaging (MWI): the impact of patient movement and setup misalignments during thermal treatments.

This research, supported by the Interreg Central Europe, marks another important milestone toward making cancer hyperthermia treatments safer, more accurate, and more effective.
