Past weekend, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (BME GTK), Department of Environmental Economics and Sustainability actively participated in the “Climate Weekend on the Embankment” event organized by the Municipality of Budapest. The Department of Environmental Economics and Sustainability was represented by a Regional and Environmental Economics Master’s student, Dorottya Vincze and Dr. Mariann Szabó, Associate Professor and Project Leader of the NiCE project, throughout Saturday and Sunday.
The colleagues hosted an interactive session titled “Cities and Their Communities in the Circular Transition”. The main objective was to promote the international NiCE project, with a special focus on the NiCE Knowledge Platform (circularlifestyle.eu). Through a tailored version of the “Workshop for student groups on circular lifestyles” workshop, visitors received practical, everyday tips on how to integrate the core principles of a circular economy into their daily routines.
To make the learning experience even more engaging, visitors were invited to play an interactive game where they had to evaluate and categorize various everyday objects based on their environmental friendliness. Participants who successfully completed the challenge were rewarded with official BME GTK gifts.
Located in the lively bustle of the Danube embankment, the stand became a truly multigenerational and international meeting point. We welcomed visitors ranging from toddlers to senior citizens, including both residents and international visitors, proving that eco-consciousness is a universal language.
Thank you to everyone who visited us and took a step towards a more sustainable future together!
