The opening of the newly redesigned Toeplerpark in Dresden-Tolkewitz at the end of May marked an important milestone in the regeneration of the neighbourhood and the development of attractive green spaces and open areas. The modernised park will offer a wide range of play, sports and leisure facilities for people of all ages and is also part of the long-term environmental development of south-east Dresden.
The event centred on the official opening of the new park and playground facilities, as well as numerous information and hands-on activities relating to the projects of the European research project ReBioClim.
A particular highlight of the event was the premiere of the new animated film ‘Bachbettgeschichten’. The film tells the story of the habitats along urban waterways and their importance for people and nature in a vivid and entertaining way. With its public premiere in Toeplerpark, the aim was not only to introduce the film to a wide audience but also to spark interest in the goals and activities of ReBioClim.
The programme was complemented by various hands-on activities and information stands, where visitors could find out more about the planned measures for watercourse restoration and ecological enhancement in south-east Dresden. Children were also actively involved in the programme of events. During an excursion to the Niedersedlitzter Flutgraben, they were able to explore the water landscape on site and learn more about animals, plants and ecological interrelationships in a playful way. The excursion clearly demonstrated how water bodies function as habitats and why their restoration is of great importance for the future of our cities. The Niedersedlitzter Flutgraben is closely linked to the planned ecological development measures in the vicinity of Toeplerpark.
The opening of Toeplerpark thus offered far more than just the inauguration of a new leisure facility. It combined nature experiences, environmental education, public participation and cultural activities, helping to bring the objectives of the ReBioClim project to the attention of a wider public. At the same time, visitors were made aware of upcoming events and opportunities for participation, with a view to continuing the dialogue on the future of urban waterways and green urban spaces.

Mit der Eröffnung des neu gestalteten Toeplerparks in Dresden-Tolkewitz wurde Ende Mai ein wichtiger Meilenstein für die Aufwertung des Stadtteils und die Entwicklung attraktiver Grün- und Freiräume erreicht. Der modernisierte Park bietet künftig vielfältige Spiel-, Sport- und Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten für Menschen aller Generationen und ist zugleich Teil der langfristigen ökologischen Entwicklung des Dresdner Südostens.
Im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung standen die offizielle Eröffnung der neuen Park- und Spielplatzanlagen sowie zahlreiche Informations- und Mitmachangebote rund um die Projekte des europäischen Forschungsprojekts ReBioClim.
Ein besonderes Highlight der Veranstaltung war die Premiere des neuen Animationsfilms „Bachbettgeschichten“. Der Film erzählt auf anschauliche und unterhaltsame Weise von den Lebensräumen entlang urbaner Gewässer und deren Bedeutung für Mensch und Natur. Mit seiner öffentlichen Erstaufführung im Toeplerpark sollte nicht nur der Film einer breiten Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt werden, sondern auch das Interesse an den Zielen und Aktivitäten von ReBioClim geweckt werden.
Ergänzt wurde das Programm durch verschiedene Mitmachaktionen und Informationsstände, an denen Besucherinnen und Besucher mehr über die geplanten Maßnahmen zur Gewässerrenaturierung und zur ökologischen Aufwertung im Dresdner Südosten erfahren konnten. Auch Kinder wurden aktiv in das Veranstaltungsprogramm eingebunden. Bei einer Exkursion zum Niedersedlitzter Flutgraben konnten sie die Gewässerlandschaft vor Ort erkunden und spielerisch mehr über Tiere, Pflanzen und ökologische Zusammenhänge erfahren. Die Exkursion vermittelte anschaulich, wie Gewässerräume als Lebensräume funktionieren und warum ihre Renaturierung für die Zukunft unserer Städte von großer Bedeutung ist. Der Niedersedlitzter Flutgraben steht in engem Zusammenhang mit den geplanten ökologischen Entwicklungsmaßnahmen im Umfeld des Toeplerparks.
Die Eröffnung des Toeplerparks bot damit weit mehr als die Einweihung einer neuen Freizeitanlage. Sie verband Naturerlebnis, Umweltbildung, Bürgerbeteiligung und kulturelle Angebote miteinander und trug dazu bei, die Ziele des ReBioClim-Projekts einer breiten Öffentlichkeit näherzubringen. Gleichzeitig wurden Besucherinnen und Besucher auf kommende Veranstaltungen und Beteiligungsmöglichkeiten aufmerksam gemacht, um den Dialog über die Zukunft urbaner Gewässer und grüner Stadträume fortzuführen.
