On May 28th, Credit4CE partners and a delegation of SMEs took part in an inspiring study visit to Faenza, Italy. The day focused on applied research, sustainability, and cross-sector industrial collaboration.

The visit began at the Faenza Tecnopolo and C-Hub, followed by guided tours of cutting-edge laboratories driving the green transition:

  • Certimac: Exploring thermal and thermographic analysis and its vital connection to the new European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
  • ENEA Labs: Discovering advanced ceramic materials through additive manufacturing (3D printing) to increase energy efficiency, and visiting the Critical Raw Materials Hub focused on permanent magnets for wind turbines.
  • CNR-ISSMC & CIRI MAM (University of Bologna): Witnessing advanced ceramic solutions for environmental protection and seeing cone calorimeter testing for fire resistance in innovative materials.

The day concluded with a visit to the #RacingBullsGreenEnergyPark, an innovative energy facility developed in Faenza by the #F1 Visa Cash App RB F1 Team (Visa Cash App Racing Bulls) in collaboration with its partner Cefla Engineering, designed to increase the site’s energy self-sufficiency and drastically reduce emissions.

The park features a photovoltaic system and a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) powered by certified biomethane from the nearby plant of the enterprise Caviro Extra. The installed technology enables an annual production of approximately 4.6 GWh of electricity, with heat recovery to meet the site’s thermal needs, contributing to the facility’s decarbonization and energy sustainability goals.

This study visit represented a valuable opportunity for dialogue among European companies, research centers, and stakeholders to showcase expertise, infrastructure, and solutions that contribute to the decarbonization and competitiveness of the manufacturing sector
