Cooperativa Sociale F.A.I. Padova — Famiglie, Anziani, Infanzia — is a non-profit Type A social cooperative founded in 1984 in Padova, Italy, with nearly 40 years of experience in social, health and educational services. Our work covers a wide range of target groups — elderly people, children, families, adults with disabilities and people in conditions of fragility — and spans home care services, semi-residential services for the elderly (day centres), educational support, social secretariat, and community projects. FAI operates across six Social Territorial Districts (ATS) in the Veneto region, working in close collaboration with local public authorities, the ULSS healthcare system, and fellow cooperatives within the Consorzio Veneto Insieme, of which FAI is a founding member.
Our approach is not task-based but competence-based, centred on multidisciplinary teams and a genuinely ecological view of the person — attending not only to physical needs but to the psychological, relational and environmental dimensions of each individual and their family. We are committed to co-design with public bodies and third-sector partners, and to the development of innovative, high-impact social services, including new models such as senior co-housing and protected discharge services. FAI is a member of Confcooperative and Federsolidarietà and participates in the Consorzio Veneto Insieme network.
Specific to BLUETWIN-CE, FAI Padova serves as the Italian territorial partner, working directly in the pilot area of Montegrotto Terme in the Province of Padua. Our role in the project is threefold: we connect the local community and stakeholders with the governance framework being developed; we lead capacity-building and training activities on Blue Zone principles; and we support the co-design and testing of Blue Zone solutions tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of the Montegrotto territory. In doing so, we act as a bridge between the project’s transnational governance ambitions and the everyday realities of the people and organisations we work with on the ground.
Going forward, FAI will coordinate capacity-building activities and community engagement in Montegrotto Terme, supporting the co-design of Blue Zone solutions grounded in real local needs. Our experience in home care, active ageing, intergenerational exchange and community well-being positions us as a natural bridge between the project’s governance ambitions and the everyday lives of the people we serve.
We are proud to be part of this transnational network and look forward to contributing our field experience and local knowledge to the shared goal of building healthier, more connected rural communities across Central Europe.
