The meeting included visits to two important companies operating in the Trata Industrial Zone — LTH Castings d.o.o. and Habjan Transport d.o.o. Škofja Loka. Participants gained insight into their work and discussed spatial, infrastructural and development issues affecting the local business environment. The discussion also included the Mayor of the Municipality of Škofja Loka, Tine Radinja.
Urban Jeriha, director of Institute for Spatial Policies, presented the BIZ Mobility project. The project addresses daily commuting to work as one of the key mobility challenges in business and industrial zones. In Škofja Loka, this is reflected in strong car dependency, insufficient public transport and limited use of sustainable transport options.
BIZ Mobility aims to improve mobility management in business and industrial zones through better mobility planning, stronger cooperation between companies and local authorities, and more sustainable commuting solutions. The presentation highlighted benefits for employees, companies, the industrial zone and the municipality, including lower commuting costs, improved accessibility, reduced congestion and stronger local partnerships.
