Green Hydrogen in Niederbayern – Public pilot event in Landshut

Date: 27.04.2026
By: HyEfRe

On 27 April, we successfully hosted public pilot event in Landshut pilot region in cooperation with HyFuture and the Deggendorf Institute of Technology. The event brought together representatives from industry, public administration, academia and energy institutions to discuss how to scale up green hydrogen in a way that supports the energy transition in practice.

Within HyEfRe, the pilot events have a very clear purpose: to bring local stakeholders into the project’s real-life testing phase and show how the hydrogen tools and solutions, that are being developed within HyEfRe, can support actual planning and implementation of hydrogen technologies. It also created a space to discuss the main barriers on the ground, including infrastructure gaps, investment risks and regulatory uncertainty, and to link these challenges with concrete project responses.

During the event, we presented:
• Innovative and profitable business models for hydrogen deployment, supported by WeEurope
• Guidelines for building cross-border hydrogen ecosystems
• Pilot actions for our Decision Support Tool and Hydrogen Potential Model

The event helped build awareness, trust and acceptance for hydrogen while also providing valuable feedback that will directly feed into the further development of the Decision Support Tool, the Hydrogen Potential Model, action plans and other HyEfRe solutions. The input collected from the pilot regions — Landshut, Mazovia, Šaleška, Passau and Pécs — through pilot events and workshops will help shape the next stages of the project and ensure that the final results of HyEfRe are practical, relevant and useful for real regional hydrogen planning and implementation.
