On 27 March 2026, the event “Il Veneto Interreg per la pianificazione e la valorizzazione del nostro territorio” took place at the Palazzo della Regione in Venice, Italy. Organised by Interreg and the Veneto Region, the initiative brought together institutions, experts, and project representatives to showcase successful experiences in European Territorial Cooperation and discuss innovative approaches to territorial planning and development.
The event represented an important opportunity to highlight the impact of Interreg-funded projects in supporting local authorities, fostering cooperation, and promoting sustainable territorial governance across the region.
Among the speakers, Filippo Squarcina, Head of the Technical Department of the Province of Vicenza, participated in the panel discussion dedicated to “Interreg for community-led urban regeneration and the use of data for local territorial planning”. During his intervention, he presented the Interreg Central Europe project EnCLOD – Enhancing Governance Capacities of Local Authorities using Open Data.
The presentation focused on the strategic role that Open Data can play in strengthening governance capacities and supporting more effective territorial planning processes. Through innovative digital tools, participatory approaches, and data-driven methodologies, EnCLOD aims to help local authorities better address urban and territorial challenges while promoting transparency, accessibility, and evidence-based decision-making.
Particular attention was dedicated to the project’s contribution to territorial development in the Veneto region, showcasing how data can support public administrations in planning more resilient, sustainable, and citizen-oriented policies.
The panel also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices among institutions and project representatives working on urban regeneration, innovation, and local governance. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of cooperation between public authorities, technical experts, and local stakeholders in addressing complex territorial challenges.
By participating in initiatives such as this regional event, EnCLOD continues to strengthen dialogue between European projects and local institutions, contributing to the dissemination of innovative governance models and the promotion of Open Data as a valuable resource for communities and public administrations alike.
The event further reaffirmed the importance of European Territorial Cooperation programmes in supporting innovation, knowledge exchange, and collaborative solutions for the future development of territories across Europe.
