March: International Pilot Demonstration of the Wildfire Risk Assessment Platform

Date: 22.01.2026

One of the key outputs of the Wildfire CE project is the development of a web-based and mobile platform designed to support wildfire risk management. The platform will be based on reliable, location-specific and cross-border comparable data. Its development follows an iterative approach, building on the results of Work Packages WP1 and WP2, which focus on risk analysis, identification of priority areas, and the collection of spatial data on infrastructure, accessibility, water resources, fuel types and fire weather conditions.

Version 1 of the platform will be tested in the pilot regions during a two-day event involving its potential core users. This testing phase will provide essential feedback for the second and final iteration of the platform. Within the framework of activity D.2.2.2, the first pilot testing of the platform will therefore be carried out in the pilot regions and targeted at its key user groups.

The pilot testing will take the form of a two-day event in each pilot area, during which the platform will be introduced for the first time to end users such as civil protection and emergency services, land managers, and local and regional decision-makers. The first part of the two-day event will be organised jointly: on 27 March in Udine, project partners will present the platform as part of the final event of the CROSS ALERT project under the Interreg Slovenia–Italy Programme. This joint event will bring together several international projects and will once again highlight their importance at the international level.

Following the joint session, participants will have the opportunity to test the platform in a real-world context, assess its usability, clarity and relevance of content, and evaluate how effectively it supports preventive planning and wildfire response. The practical testing phase will be carried out separately in each participating country, across the five pilot regions.

All findings and feedback collected during the pilot testing will be systematically analysed and summarised in a report. These results will serve as a key input for further improvements and for the final iteration of the platform. The pilot testing will thus confirm the relevance of the developed solution and ensure that the platform is aligned with the actual needs of end users, while also being suitable for transfer and implementation in other Central European regions.
