From Plans to Practice: Building Local Heat Resilience
📅 11 February 2026 | 14:00–15:30 CET | Online Webinar As climate change drives more frequent and intense heatwaves across Europe, practical local action has never been more urgent. Join us for the final Ready4Heat webinar, where municipalities and project partners share how they’ve translated Heat & Health Action Plans into on-the-ground solutions that strengthen community resilience. This 90-minute online event brings together municipal officers, urban planners, local health authorities and key stakeholders from Central and Northern Europe through the Coolcities project to explore best practices in heat risk communication, green cooling solutions and cross-sector networks. Since its launch in 2023, Ready4Heat has supported pilot cities in designing and implementing locally tailored actions to protect residents from extreme heat. From nature-based shading and green “urban islands” to renewable-powered cooling systems and citizen-driven heat protection networks, the project’s pilot solutions demonstrate how diverse approaches can make a real difference in everyday lives. Among the key outcomes:
- Green urban cooling: Hajdúböszörmény’s network of green islands and Maribor’s shaded pergolas help reduce heat stress in public spaces. (Interreg Central Europe)
- Innovative technical measures: Solar-assisted cooling trials in Weiz show how renewable energy can improve comfort while cutting energy use. (Interreg Central Europe)
- Community networks: Worms’ local heat protection network highlights the importance of collaboration across health, social and municipal services. (Interreg Central Europe)
- A comprehensive Pilot Implementation Report documents lessons learned and offers tools and infographics to help other cities replicate successful approaches. (Interreg Central Europe)
What to expect at the webinar:
- Insights into short-, medium- and long-term heat adaptation measures
- Case studies on cool spots, routes, engagement and communication strategies
- Interactive discussions and Q&A with city teams and partners from Ready4Heat and CoolCities
💡 Target audience: Municipal officials, planners, health authorities, social service providers and climate adaptation professionals looking to strengthen local heat resilience. 👉 Don’t miss this opportunity — register now and be part of the conversation on how cities are turning plans into practice for a cooler, healthier future!
