On September 16, 2025, students from J. Korczak High School in Sosnowiec and senior citizens took part in a study visit to IETU and a guided walk about blue-green infrastructure in Amelung Park, Chorzów.
The group was guided by Edyta Sierka, Ph.D., from the Silesian University in Katowice. Participants learned about climate change adaptation work carried out at IETU in collaboration with domestic and international municipalities, research institutes, universities, and other stakeholders.
During the visit, they explored the microbiology laboratory to gain insights into nature-based solutions, the use of native plant species on green walls and roofs, and the concept of phytoremediation.
The guided walk in Amelung Park demonstrated how the transformation of degraded areas can be combined with climate change adaptation through the integration of blue-green infrastructure and the application of nature-based solutions.
