The TeBiCE Forum 2025 brought together over 100 participants from across Europe to explore how territorial biorefineries can accelerate the transition to a circular bioeconomy. Hosted by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, the event created a dynamic space for exchange between stakeholders from industry, research, and policy.

Keynotes from UPM Biochemicals and Novamont showcased pioneering approaches to bio-based value chains and the revitalisation of regional industrial sites. The presentations highlighted the potential of innovative, circular uses of biomass and residual streams—from thinning wood processed into platform chemicals, to eggshell chalk transformed into wall paint, and apricot seed residues repurposed for food and cosmetics.

Interactive World Café sessions encouraged dialogue across sectors and regions, leading to new insights for the project consortium. Discussions focused on challenges in scaling bioeconomy solutions, strategies for integrating value chains, and the importance of cross-border collaboration.

Startups such as Protegg, Cirwinns, and Kern Tec added practical examples of how circular innovation is already being implemented in business. Their contributions demonstrated that residual streams can be transformed into viable, high-value products — strengthening local economies and reducing waste.

The Forum clearly demonstrated that collaboration, innovation, and regional action are key to building a resilient, bio-based future. The TeBiCE project will continue to support these efforts by connecting stakeholders, sharing knowledge, and promoting territorial biorefinery concepts across Europe.
