As a partner in the European D4PACK project and a member of EIT Food — the largest European community dedicated to innovation in the agribusiness sector — Campden BRI Hungary recently organised a workshop focused on the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3).
Titled ‘The importance of rethinking and using packaging materials in the green transition’, the meeting involved representatives from companies in the sector, policymakers, regulators and organisations active in research and innovation.
The workshop focused on the crucial role of packaging in transitioning to more sustainable production models. The discussion covered how changing regulations and an increasing focus on sustainability influence the development and use of packaging materials, emphasising the importance of innovations involving related industries, such as packaging material manufacturers.
During the event, Campden BRI Hungary presented the D4PACK project and the results of a study on the main packaging-related challenges faced by SMEs in the agribusiness sector, focusing specifically on the meat, dairy and fruit and vegetable industries.
