Greenscaping and Health: Medical Students Explore Urban Sustainability

Date: 05.05.2025

Final-year medical students from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine recently engaged in an interactive session focused on the health impacts of greenscaping in urban environments. Under the theme “Innovative tools for air quality health impact assessment,” students were introduced to the GreenScape CE visual mapping tool, which supports the development of green spaces in Zagreb. This initiative highlighted the vital role of the health sector in shaping smart, sustainable cities—not only by contributing medical expertise but also by promoting urban planning that supports community well-being. The session underscored how integrating public health perspectives into greenscaping strategies can lead to healthier, more resilient urban environments, where air quality, mental health, and livability are prioritized alongside environmental goals.
