VII Polish Conference on Hydrogen Energy and Technologies – PCHET 2024

Location: Poland
Date: 07.10.2024 - 08.10.2024
By: H2CE

PCHET 2024 was organised by the Pomeranian Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Hydrogen Technology Cluster and the Institute of Power Engineering – National Research Institute.

The programme addressed:

  • Poland’s hydrogen strategy;
  • hydrogen production and electrolysers;
  • fuel-cell technologies;
  • Hydrogen Valleys and regional cooperation;
  • industrial and transport decarbonisation;
  • investment financing;
  • EU taxonomy and the RED II and RED III frameworks;
  • hydrogen production using nuclear energy;
  • links between offshore energy and hydrogen.

Technology presentations, an exhibition and networking sessions connected researchers, businesses and public-sector representatives.

Main results

The conference provided an updated view of hydrogen technology and market development in Poland and internationally. It also supported knowledge exchange between research institutions, technology developers and potential users.

Practical innovations presented during the event included the inauguration of Rockfin’s GREENBOX – First Fire project. The Prof. W. H. Nernst Scientific Awards recognised work on electrochemical sensors, high-temperature fuel cells and the use of ammonia in solid-oxide fuel cells.

Main lessons

The discussions showed that hydrogen deployment required coordinated progress in:

  • regulation and certification;
  • production and infrastructure;
  • access to finance;
  • development of regional demand;
  • cooperation between research and industry.

Regional hydrogen ecosystems and Hydrogen Valleys could help connect these elements and turn individual technology projects into functioning value chains.

Available materials

An overview of the 2024 programme and activities remained available in the Hydrogen Technology Cluster’s PCHET archive.

The Institute of Power Engineering also published an event summary and the recognised research achievements.
