The second European PhD Hydrogen Conference was organised by Hydrogen Europe Research and the University of Trieste in cooperation with the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley.
Its researcher-led scientific sessions covered subjects including:
- hydrogen production and storage;
- fuel cells and hydrogen applications;
- hydrogen derivatives;
- integration into energy systems;
- economic and regulatory aspects of hydrogen deployment.
The format allowed doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss methodological and technical challenges and receive feedback from other researchers and sector experts.
Main results
The conference:
- connected more than 155 doctoral presenters from 85 institutions across Europe;
- strengthened interdisciplinary exchange among emerging hydrogen researchers;
- supported connections between academic research and industrial applications;
- gave participants direct insight into advanced research infrastructure through a visit to the Elettra Sincrotrone facility.
Practical value
EPHyC demonstrated the importance of connecting early-stage research across technological, economic and regulatory fields. Such exchange helped reduce fragmentation and supported the development of research partnerships needed to move hydrogen innovations towards practical application.
