Workshops in Pilot Regions

Date: 09.10.2024
The WILDFIRE CE project is deep into its first period, meaning the activities that must be done by the end of November are proceeding at full speed. One of our main tasks comprises the activities in the pilot regions: Saxon/Bohemian Switzerland (DE/CZ), Znojmo/North Lower Austria (AT/CZ), Friuli/Carinthia (ITA/AT) and Goriška/Friuli (SLO/ITA). In these areas, workshops and reports to establish end-user requirements with target groups need to be carried out. The main goal of the workshops is to attract different stakeholders from both sides of the border to get together and address the challenge of cross-border management of wildfire risk.

Focusing on the main goals of the Wildfire CE project, which are improving the assessment and management of wildfire risks by mapping fire potentials, providing fire assessment manuals, and developing action plans for pilot regions, at these regional kick-off meetings with stakeholders’ different topics will be tackled. Among these this the following will be discussed: management and communication regarding managing and communicating fire risk areas, differences in the management or planning of fire protection measures, cross-border agreements that define cross border wildfire (risk) assessment in terms of information exchange, technical resources exchange etc.

This way, in cooperation with regional authorities and emergency services, the partners will be able to empower local communities and organizations in order to tackle this transborder challenge and to fight the cross-border wildfires as successfully as possible.
