On August 7, a working meeting took place in Jaworzno as part of the ongoing activities of the Regional Implementation Group (RIG) within the MAURICE project.

During the meeting, the developed Sustainable Rainwater Management Strategy was presented. The strategy aims to enhance awareness and knowledge among both investors and local residents regarding sustainable rainwater management practices.

Key elements of the strategy include:

  • Regular coordination meetings between the Jaworzno City Council and waterworks departments within the RIG framework.

  • Development of comprehensive guidelines for blue-green infrastructure (BGI).

  • Identification of priority zones, including areas planned for future residential and industrial development as well as zones particularly vulnerable to extreme weather events.

  • Tailored recommendations addressing the specific needs and challenges of each priority zone.

Additionally, the MAURICE project is preparing a dedicated handbook for Jaworzno, designed to support effective rainwater management and maximize its environmental and social benefits.

We extend our gratitude to all RIG participants for their active engagement and ongoing collaboration.
