On 22 May 2025, the Veneto Region hosted the first meeting of the Local Advisory Group (LAG) as part of the SuPeRBE project – Supporting cross-scale Planning and policy readiness for Resilient Built Environment. The online meeting brought together various regional stakeholders engaged in climate change adaptation and spatial planning.
Participants included representatives from various departments of the Veneto Region, universities, and provincial administrations, as well as stakeholders from the pilot municipalities of Abano Terme and Verona, the designated case study areas for the Veneto Region in SuPeRBE.
Following an introduction to the regional context and the goals of the SuPeRBE project, attendees took part in an interactive session focused on the SuPeRBE platform. The session allowed stakeholders to provide valuable input on the platform, aiming to develop digital tools that effectively support local authorities in resilient planning processes. In particular, reflections and suggestions were gathered to help define the platform, with the aim of building truly effective digital tools to support local authorities in resilient planning.
The interactive session of the LAG Meeting made use of the Mentimeter platform, allowing participants to easily and immediately share their impressions and concerns regarding climate change adaptation. The activity was met with strong engagement, with 85% of attendees actively participating, fostering a shared and dynamic exchange of perspectives.
The second part of the meeting, led by iiSBE Italia, focused on climate adaptation by presenting a performance evaluation system based on the RBE–CE methodology. The session also highlighted the expected outcomes from the case studies conducted in the Veneto Region and explored how climate resilience can be integrated into urban planning processes, including Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Urban Health. The presentation provided both methodological insights and practical approaches for embedding adaptation into territorial policies.
The involvement of local governments, professionals, and technical experts is a key factor for the success of SuPeRBE. The insights gathered during this first LAG meeting will help tailor the project’s tools to local needs and guide the next steps, which include focus groups, workshops, and pilot actions in the selected territories.
The SuPeRBE project contributes to the EU Strategy on Climate Change Adaptation, aiming to equip public authorities with innovative, science-based, and actionable tools to strengthen the resilience of the built environment at multiple spatial scales.
