Litomyšl, Czech Republic | 17–19 September 2025 — The Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP-PP9) took part in the 16th Biennial CzWA Conference, held at the historic Litomyšl Castle. Organised by the Czech Water Association, the event welcomed over 400 experts from across Central Europe to explore solutions for sustainable water management and climate adaptation.
As part of the 2025 programme, UJEP presented a poster on the Climate_CRICES project, showcasing its contribution to regional climate adaptation. Researcher Štěpánka Truhlářová introduced the proposal of the Climate_CRICES projects for an interactive adaptation tool designed to support decision-making at the local level. The poster also highlighted the untapped potential of climate data in shaping effective and evidence-based responses to climate change.
In addition to the Climate_CRICES presentation, UJEP colleagues contributed insights from related projects. Jan Macháč, within the CESMOD project, discussed public preferences and the willingness of communities to financially support blue-green infrastructure for rainwater management. Meanwhile, Lenka Zaňková, representing the SpongeBoost project, presented an economic assessment of wetland benefits as a foundation for innovative financing mechanisms.
The CzWA Conference, held biennially since 1995, has evolved into a leading platform for interdisciplinary exchange. Since 2021, it has found a permanent home in Litomyšl — a UNESCO World Heritage site known not only for its cultural heritage, but also for fostering collaboration across research, practice, and policy.
