On 5 June 2025, we hosted the third edition of the Sponge City Talk series, co-organised by the MAURICE Network and Climate-ADAPT, bringing together around 30 participants from across Europe. The session explored:
- The Sponge City approach developed within the MAURICE project
- The Urban Adaptation Support Tool, presented by Valentina Giannini from Climate-ADAPT
- Local insights from the Italian pilot action, shared by the team from Politecnico di Milano
We were joined by representatives from research institutes, municipalities, regional authorities, ministries, and NGOs – from ten countries including Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, and even Malaysia. The interactive discussion highlighted the importance of practical, nature-based tools in building climate-resilient cities – and the value of cross-border knowledge exchange. A big thank you to all speakers, contributors, and participants! Stay tuned for the next sessions in the Sponge City Talk series, and follow the MAURICE Project and Climate-ADAPT for updates and materials. The next edition of the series is planned for 11 September 2025, when we will delve into the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources – and how future scenarios can be modelled to inform sustainable water management strategies. Stay tuned for registration details and speaker announcements!
