The City of Kranj hosted an event dedicated to blue-green infrastructure in the historic city center, an area recognized as an urban heat island (UHI). Together with experts from the National Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Kranj, discussions focused on possible solutions that combine climate change adaptation with the preservation of cultural heritage.
Climatologist Dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, ambassador for a green and sustainable environment in Kranj, emphasized the importance of addressing climate challenges in cities. The objectives of the CICADA4CE project were also presented, while participants explored cultural heritage protection guidelines for key locations, including the project’s pilot site at Slovenski trg.
Participants agreed that cooperation between organizations is crucial to achieve these goals. The City of Kranj expressed its gratitude to the experts and to Dr. Bogataj for their constructive contributions.
